I recorded my conversation with artist Michael Noland at his spacious and bright studio in Woodstock IL. He is also an avid art collector, and I was able to tour his home which is full of, what he considers, excellence in art. Much of this collected art could be seen as folk art, outsider art, untrained art, or self-taught. It was a varied and interesting collection. As these things happen, I didn’t know Michael when I started our talk so I didn’t know what to expect. I quickly realized I just needed to get out of the way and let his spirit just come through.
